I am sometimes asked, "Why do you spend so much of your time and money talking about kindness to animals when there is so much cruelty to men?" I answer, "I am working at the roots."

Welcome to a web site that showcases some of the most happy and joyous creatures on Earth!

This web site is dedicated to the special relationships I have with ferrets. They've enhanced my life in ways I never thought possible. I am most appreciative, grateful, respectful and blessed to be the caretaker of these wonderful and happy gifts.
Cosmo and Kaos

CosmoThe photo to the right is "Cosmo" who passed in June of 2004. My formal name for this miracle ferret is "Cosmonium". He was a very sweet loving boy. I rescued Cosmo along with Kaos in September 2001.

Kaos EatingCosmo and Kaos [photos to the left and below] had been "dumped" outdoors by their former owners to fend for themselves in 90 to 95 degree Florida summer heat and typically violent thunderstorms. Ferrets do not have sweat glands and don't survive in high temperatures for a long period of time.

Kaos SleepingCosmo and Kaos were exceptions to the norm of heat intolerance. In fact, it's a miracle they survived outside for two weeks! In high heat, ferrets will likely die of heat stroke or heat exhaustion. They require a cool, dry environment. Ideal temperatures for ferrets are 65 to 76 degrees. Also, a blowing fan does not cool ferrets in hot weather — it only circulates the hot air.

Cosmo and Kaos were very much "bonded" to one another — like big brother and little sister. Cosmo even allowed Kaos to beat up on him from time to time.

In October 2003 Cosmo was diagnosed with insulinoma. Surgery was not an option so symptoms were being controlled with prednisolone twice daily. Cosmo responded beautifully to the treatment, but inevitably, in June 2004 he left us after a long tough battle with the insulinoma.

Klondike, 1999–2004

Klondike taking his morning stretchThe pictures to the left and below are of my boy Klondike. He was considered a "REW", or red-eyed white. He and Tommy adopted me in August, 2000. Klondike Christmas 2000 Needless to say, Klondike was a very happy boy in his new home!

Klondike enjoyed having small pillows gently tossed at him while lying on his back, then he would kick the pillows back to me.

The photo to the left is of my big boy, Flasher. I adopted this gentle boy August 1999. He is truly my treasure!
